This Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy explains how cookies, browser storage, external content, security technologies and related technical functions are used on https://fix246.com.

It applies to all visitors and registered users, with particular regard to users located in the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

This Policy should be read together with the fix246 Privacy Policy.

1. Introduction

fix246 uses cookies and similar technologies to provide essential website functions, maintain user sessions, remember temporary workflow information, protect forms and accounts, prevent automated abuse and provide interactive platform features.

Some technologies are provided directly by fix246. Others may be provided by external service providers, including WordPress-related services, Cloudflare, Google and supported social media platforms.

fix246 does not currently use third-party analytics cookies, behavioural advertising cookies, personalised advertising cookies or technologies intended to track visitors across unrelated websites.

Optional external social media content is blocked by default on public listings and is loaded only after the visitor chooses to activate the relevant Social Showcase.

External Opportunity Radar searches public Threads content through a server-side API connection. Displaying a Radar card in a logged-in Service Provider’s Opportunity Hub does not load a Threads embed, does not connect that Service Provider’s browser to Threads and does not place or read Threads cookies through the Radar card. A browser connection to Threads may occur only if the Service Provider selects the link to view the original post.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer, smartphone or other device when you visit a website.

Cookies may allow a website to recognise your browser, maintain your login session, remember certain settings, protect forms or provide other technical functions.

Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Others may remain on your device for a limited period or until you delete them.

3. What are similar technologies?

In addition to traditional cookies, websites may use technologies such as:

• local storage;
• session storage;
• security tokens;
• scripts;
• browser identifiers; and
• server-side session data.

For convenience, references to “cookies” in this policy may also include these similar technologies where appropriate.

fix246 may also use first-party session storage. Session storage allows temporary information to be kept within the current browser session or tab and is normally deleted when the relevant browser session or tab is closed.

For convenience, references to “cookies” in this Policy may also include browser storage, security tokens, external content, embedded content and other comparable technologies where appropriate.

4. What are scripts?

A script is a piece of program code that allows the website to operate correctly and interactively.

Scripts may be executed on our servers or in your browser. They may be used, for example, to display forms, process account actions, detect automated access or provide interactive platform features.

5. Categories of cookies and technologies used

5.1 Strictly necessary and functional technologies

fix246 uses strictly necessary and functional technologies where they are required to:

• operate the website;
• provide user registration and login functions;
• maintain authenticated user sessions;
• protect accounts and forms;
• prevent spam, fraud and automated abuse;
• process Job Requests and Service Offerings;
• provide messaging and account features;
• provide Search Alerts, Favorites, the Service Network and the Opportunity Hub;
• provide the protected External Opportunity Radar function for signed-in users;
• support multi-step listing and account workflows;
• remember temporary navigation or form context;
• maintain website security; and
• remember essential technical settings.

These technologies are not used by fix246 for personalised advertising, behavioural tracking or the creation of cross-site visitor profiles.

Where a technology is strictly necessary for a function expressly requested by the user, it may be used without an optional cookie preference setting.

You may block or delete these technologies through your browser settings. However, doing so may prevent parts of the website from working correctly.

5.2 Analytics and first-party aggregate measurement

fix246 does not currently use third-party analytics cookies or analytics services to create behavioural visitor profiles.

fix246 may record limited first-party aggregate statistics directly on its own server.

These may include:

• advertising impressions and clicks;
• Social Showcase activations;
• openings of individual Social Showcase posts;
• clicks to original social media posts; and
• aggregate interactions with other platform features.

These server-side aggregate counters do not themselves place or read cookies, local storage or advertising identifiers on the visitor’s device.

They are not used to track visitors across websites or to create an individual browsing history.

Normal technical server and security logs may be generated separately, as described in the Privacy Policy.

5.3 Marketing and cross-site tracking technologies

fix246 does not currently use cookies or similar technologies to:

• create advertising profiles;
• provide personalised advertising;
• track users across unrelated websites;
• combine browsing activity from different websites; or
• measure advertising through third-party tracking networks.

Advertising displayed directly on fix246 may be selected, displayed and measured internally without the use of third-party behavioural advertising cookies.

External social media platforms may use their own cookies or identifiers after a visitor chooses to load or open external social media content. This processing is carried out by the relevant external platform and is described separately below.

5.4 First-party session storage

fix246 may use first-party session storage to remember temporary information during a browser session.

This may include temporary information about:

• whether the user started creating a Service Offering or Job Request;
• the listing or account context selected by the user;
• whether an optional guide or account panel should be opened;
• temporary form or navigation information; and
• information needed to continue a multi-step platform workflow.

This information is stored only in the visitor’s browser and is normally limited to the current browser tab or session.

It is not used for advertising, cross-site tracking or the creation of a visitor profile.

The information is normally deleted when the relevant browser tab or session is closed. Users may also remove it through their browser settings.

6. Services and technologies used

6.1 WordPress and website functionality

fix246 is operated using WordPress, HivePress and related website components.

These systems may use technically necessary cookies and similar technologies to:

• test whether cookies are supported;
• maintain login sessions;
• authenticate registered users;
• protect accounts;
• remember account or administrative settings;
• process forms;
• maintain security tokens; and
• provide essential website and account functions.

The exact cookies used depend on whether the visitor is logged in, whether a “remember me” function is selected and which parts of the website are used.

Examples may include WordPress test, authentication, security, logged-in and account-setting cookies.

The lifetime of these cookies may range from the current browser session to a longer period where a user has requested that a setting or login be remembered.

6.2 Cloudflare and Cloudflare Turnstile

fix246 uses Cloudflare services to improve website security, reliability and protection against automated abuse.

Cloudflare Turnstile may be used to protect forms, account functions and other platform actions from spam, bots, fraud and malicious submissions.

For this purpose, Cloudflare may process or generate:

• IP address information;
• browser and device information;
• user-agent information;
• connection and security signals;
• information about the page or protected function;
• verification challenges;
• security tokens; and
• necessary cookies or comparable technologies, depending on the technical configuration.

These technologies are used for security and abuse prevention and are not used by fix246 for personalised advertising.

A protected form or function may not work correctly if the required Cloudflare scripts, tokens or technologies are blocked.

6.3 Google reCAPTCHA

fix246 uses Google reCAPTCHA v2 to protect user registration against spam, automated registrations and other forms of abuse.

Google reCAPTCHA is provided by Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Depending on Google’s processing structure, information may also be processed by other Google entities or in countries outside the European Economic Area.

When reCAPTCHA is loaded or used, Google may process:

• the visitor’s IP address;
• browser and device information;
• operating system information;
• date and time information;
• the page on which reCAPTCHA is used;
• interactions with the reCAPTCHA widget;
• mouse, keyboard or touchscreen interactions;
• security and risk-assessment signals;
• existing Google identifiers or cookies; and
• newly created security cookies or comparable technologies.

Google reCAPTCHA may use the _GRECAPTCHA cookie or comparable technologies for security and risk analysis.

fix246 uses reCAPTCHA to protect registration and user accounts against automated abuse. fix246 does not use reCAPTCHA information for its own personalised advertising or behavioural visitor profiles.

Registration may not be available if reCAPTCHA, its scripts or required security technologies are blocked.

Google processes information under its own privacy terms and acts independently in relation to its own services.

6.4 Google Sign-In

fix246 allows users to choose Google as an external registration or login method.

When the user selects “Sign in with Google” or “Sign up with Google”, the user may be redirected to Google or a connection with Google may be established.

Google may use existing or newly created cookies, account identifiers, security tokens or comparable technologies to:

• authenticate the user;
• maintain the Google login process;
• protect the login against misuse;
• remember Google account settings; and
• operate Google’s own services.

Google processes this information under its own terms and privacy policy.

fix246 does not control Google’s cookies or the duration for which Google retains them.

Users who do not want to use Google Sign-In may use the available fix246 username and password functions instead.

6.5 My Social Showcase and external social media content

My Social Showcase allows users to feature public posts from supported social media platforms in their Job Requests and Service Offerings.

Supported platforms may currently include Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Public listing pages

External Social Showcase content on public listing pages is blocked by default.

Before the visitor activates the Showcase:

• fix246 displays a first-party information area and placeholders;
• external social media thumbnails are not requested by the visitor’s browser;
• Instagram and TikTok embedded players are not loaded; and
• the visitor’s browser is not connected to the supported platforms through the Social Showcase display.

When the visitor chooses to load the Showcase:

• external preview images may be requested from the platforms used in that Showcase;
• the visitor’s browser connects to the relevant external providers;
• the external providers may receive technical information; and
• the external providers may use or access cookies, local storage, identifiers or comparable technologies.

When the visitor opens an Instagram or TikTok post, an external embedded player may be loaded in an iframe.

Facebook posts are currently displayed through an external preview image and a link to the original Facebook post. Opening the link takes the visitor to Facebook.

The external provider may receive or process information including:

• IP address;
• browser and device information;
• operating system information;
• date and time of access;
• the fix246 page from which the content was loaded;
• referrer information;
• existing social media cookies or identifiers;
• information about a logged-in social media account; and
• interaction with the external content.

The relevant platform processes this information under its own terms and privacy policy.

Current-page activation

The decision to load the Social Showcase currently applies only to the current page view.

fix246 does not currently store the activation in a cookie, local storage or a permanent site-wide preference.

Reloading the page returns the public Social Showcase to its blocked state.

Closing an opened Showcase post removes the active embedded player. External preview images already loaded during the current page view may remain in the browser until the page is reloaded or closed.

My Social Showcase account area

In the private My Social Showcase account area, external preview images may be loaded when the registered user chooses to preview, add, arrange or manage a public social media post.

The account holder actively requests this external preview as part of managing the Social Showcase.

6.6 External Opportunity Radar and Threads

External Opportunity Radar is a server-side platform function. When its Threads source is active, a fix246 server sends selected search requests to the Threads API using an authorised administrator connection. This process does not run in a Service Provider’s browser and does not use the Service Provider’s browser cookies, local storage, device identifiers or Threads login state to perform the search.

The Radar card shown inside the private Opportunity Hub is rendered by fix246. It may display a limited public source excerpt and a link to the original Threads post, but it does not contain a Threads iframe, embedded player, Threads tracking script or externally loaded Threads preview image.

If a Service Provider selects “View original on Threads”, the browser opens Threads. At that point Meta may process the visitor’s IP address, browser and device information, referrer information, existing cookies or identifiers and, where applicable, information about a logged-in Threads account under Meta’s own privacy policy. fix246 does not control Meta’s cookies or other technologies after the user opens Threads.

6.7 BiMPay information and aggregate measurement

fix246 may display a voluntary “Using BiMPay” indicator and links to official information about BiMPay.

The indicator itself does not require a connection to BiMPay and does not load a BiMPay payment function, wallet, account or transaction service.

fix246 may record aggregate views and clicks relating to BiMPay information directly on its own server.

These aggregate counters do not themselves:

• place cookies on the visitor’s device;
• use local storage;
• create an advertising identifier;
• store an individual visitor history; or
• process BiMPay account, payment or transaction information.

When a visitor chooses to open an external BiMPay website or resource, the external provider may process information under its own cookie and privacy policies.

7. Consent and point-of-use activation

fix246 does not currently use a general cookie banner for third-party analytics or behavioural advertising because those technologies are not currently used.

Optional external Social Showcase content is controlled through point-of-use activation.

The external content remains blocked until the visitor selects the activation button displayed directly at the relevant Showcase.

By selecting the button after receiving the accompanying information, the visitor chooses to establish connections with the social media platforms identified in that Showcase.

The activation applies only to the current page view and is not stored as a permanent site-wide consent preference.

The visitor can return the Showcase to its blocked state by reloading or leaving the page.

An active Instagram or TikTok embedded player can be removed by closing the Showcase viewer. Data already transmitted to an external provider before the content was closed or the page was reloaded cannot be recalled by fix246.

Strictly necessary WordPress, login, account, form, session and security technologies may be activated when the relevant function is accessed.

Google reCAPTCHA and Cloudflare Turnstile may be required for protected registration, account or form functions. Blocking the required technology may make the relevant function unavailable.

If fix246 introduces additional optional analytics, personalisation, marketing or third-party technologies in the future, the applicable consent mechanism and this Policy will be updated before those technologies are used where consent is legally required.

8. Managing cookies and external content

You can configure your browser to:

• delete existing cookies;
• block all cookies;
• block cookies from specific websites;
• block third-party cookies;
• remove local or session storage;
• block third-party scripts or embedded content; or
• notify you before certain information is stored.

Instructions are normally available in the privacy, security, website-data or cookie settings of your browser.

Please note that blocking strictly necessary technologies may prevent you from:

• registering an account;
• logging in;
• remaining logged in;
• submitting forms;
• posting or managing listings;
• sending or receiving messages;
• using protected account features;
• continuing multi-step listing workflows; or
• using Google Sign-In.

External Social Showcase content is blocked by default. You do not need to change your browser settings in order to keep it blocked.

To load a Social Showcase, you must select the activation button displayed at the relevant Showcase.

Reloading or leaving the page returns that Showcase to its blocked state.

Blocking third-party cookies does not prevent the External Opportunity Radar card itself from appearing in the private Opportunity Hub. It may affect the experience after you voluntarily open the original post on Threads or another external source.

Deleting cookies or browser storage may log you out, remove temporary workflow information or require essential technologies to be created again during your next visit.

9. Personal data and your rights

Information collected through cookies and similar technologies may constitute personal data.

Depending on the applicable data protection law, you may have the following rights:

• the right to receive information about the processing of your personal data;
• the right to access your personal data;
• the right to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
• the right to request deletion of your personal data;
• the right to request restriction of processing;
• the right to data portability, where applicable;
• the right to object to certain processing;
• the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and
• the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data protection authority.

These rights may be subject to legal requirements, limitations and exceptions.

Where information is processed by an external provider such as Google, Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, the external provider may act as an independent controller.

Requests relating to information held independently by that provider may need to be addressed directly to the relevant provider.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie and Similar Technologies Policy when:

• website functions change;
• new services or security technologies are introduced;
• existing services are removed;
• the technical use of cookies changes; or
• legal or regulatory requirements change.

The current version will always be published on this page. The date at the top of the policy indicates when it was last updated.

The Policy may also be updated if the way in which external social media content, browser storage, consent or point-of-use activation operates is changed.
